Another day, another flower

In case you haven't been able to tell by now, I love photographing flowers.  I love the colors and the shapes and most of all, I like finding different perspectives from which to look at said flowers.  A recent trip to the San Diego Botanic Gardens yielded this collection.

There's a children's garden there with all sorts of kid-friendly things to do and look at and climb on.  On this visit, they were featuring sculptures made of of "found" materials, i.e. old pieces of metal and plastic, re-purposed small tools, etc.

There's a very pretty walled garden

and the Mexican Garden is one of my favorites

And the best thing about gardens is that they are constantly changing.  I'm looking forward to our next visit.

Going to the Zoo (again!)

A few weeks ago, we took a trip over to the San Diego Zoo in Balboa Park.  We tried to get there early, before it got too warm and were rewarded by such sights as an elephant pedicure.

Many of the animals were out and about. Some were just finishing breakfast

Some were already taking their morning siestas

And some were just being themselves

We spent a few minutes chatting with Bai Yun and Gao Gao

All in all, a very satisfying morning.
