Fog

The Fog comes
on little cat feet.

It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

--Carl Sandburg (1913)

One of my all-time favorite poems, full of metaphorical images.  Living in the San Francisco Bay Area is to live with fog, to feel its cold dampness, and to welcome its enfolding embrace.  There's a mystery in the fog which disappears when the fog does but when it's here, it's magical.

  1. Cool fog pictures, I love the last 2! I've been learning to like fog much more since being into photography, it is something different, and makes the same old things look magical (sometimes), and otherwise, just adds a new dimension. Fun.
