Pandora

My husband is visually impaired and has a guide dog.  She is a yellow Lab named Pandora and she is four and a half years old.  She comes from the Guide Dog School in San Rafael, California and when she's not working, she's pretty much a big puppy.  When we got her, she was only 22 months old and we were the third home she had had in her life, so she was pretty unsure what to expect.

Two weeks after she came home, we put her on a plane and went to Boston.  She had to be "safely stowed under the seat in front of us", but she traveled like a champ!  Since then, she's been on planes, trains, automobiles and boats.  No nerves, no crying, no motion sickness.

(Pay no attention to the zenlike husband!)

Her favorite way to travel is by car.  She'll run to the car when we say it's time to go, and she always has to have the window down so she can "take notes".

Because she's a service dog, she goes everywhere with us.  She's not allowed on the bed at home, that's the cats' domain, so her favorite part of going on vacation is that she gets to sleep on the bed.  And she takes full advantage of it.

Oops, forgot about the pop-up flash there.  Well, we haven't been anywhere since January 8th, so I'll fix that as soon as we go out of town!

So I hope you enjoyed meeting our pup.  She's the closest thing we have to a kid so you may get tired of her after a while, but that's okay too.

  1. See, told you I'd get to reading everything (a month late). Love Pandora, so glad to "meet" her.
